Great incentive for Wests Junior League Players
Western Suburbs District Junior Rugby League and Wests Tigers have
provided a wonderful incentive for children playing the game in 2013.
Wayne Hardy-Smith, Western Suburbs District Junior Rugby League Chairman, announced at a Fan and Junior Rugby League Registration Day at Campbelltown Sports Stadium last Sunday that all children aged 6-17 who register with one of the 16 Western Suburbs junior clubs would receive a free Wests Tigers Junior Membership.
The Fan and Junior Rugby League Day was a joint initiative between Western Suburbs District Junior Rugby League and Wests Tigers. The event saw all 16 junior clubs in the Western Suburbs District in attendance to enable boys and girls choose the junior team of their choice.
The Wests Tigers Junior Membership comprises of an exclusive Members Only Kids Back Pack, Member Lanyard and ticket wallet, bumper sticker, a $20 merchandise voucher, and full Member benefits including priority access to the NRL finals series tickets and major events.
“This is our way of giving back to the grass roots and creating the pathway to the future for all kids in the Western Suburbs District Junior Rugby League,’’ Mr Hardy-Smith said.
“The Macarthur region has always been strong in junior rugby league and 2013 is shaping up to be another successful season for Western Suburbs District Junior Rugby League.
“It was great to see so many junior rugby league players in attendance. They also had the chance to not only sign on with a club but to get their boots and headgear from Blades as well.
“The future is very bright for Western Suburbs District Junior Rugby League under the leadership of Julie Luke and her team. We are very proud to be able to provide our registered juniors with a free Wests Tigers Membership.
“We look forward to further developing our strong relationship with Wests Tigers and to make next year’s Fan and Junior Rugby League Registration Day even bigger and better.”

Bright season awaits junior Magpies
Western Suburbs Magpies are confident of a very bright season in the NSWRL Junior Representative competitions in 2013.
The Magpies are fielding two quality teams in the prestigious Harold Matthews (U16) and SG Ball (U18) competitions.
Western Suburbs Development Manager for Wests Tigers, Ben Rogers, said the Magpies were proud to see local players given the opportunity to play in the competitions.
“All of our players across both teams, except for one player, are from the Western Suburbs Junior League and Group 6 Junior League competitions,’’ he said.
“It shows what great depth and young talent there is within in the Macarthur region.
“Both of our teams will be very competitive. They had very strong pre-seasons with no injuries and we are expecting good things.”
Western Suburbs Magpies Chairman Mick Liubinskas presented the players with their gear at a recent presentation night at Wests Leagues Club, Campbelltown.
“One of the most pleasing things from the night was seeing just how proud these young players are to represent their district club in the Magpies,’’ he said.
“I’m very confident they will not only play well but will carry on the proud history of the Magpies and hopefully progress through to the Wests Tigers.”

Drugs in Sport.
The Western Suburbs Magpies, with the assistance of NSWRL are continuing to educate players and staff about the dangers of drugs in sports.
Arrangements have been made to have a facilitator attend one of our training sessions and provide us with an overview of this very important subject as well as detailing our responsibilities.

Wests Magpies Junior Representative Team gear presentation.
On Thursday 6 February 2013 Mick Liubinskas and Steve Reeves attended the gear presentation night for Wests Magpies Harold Matthews and SG Ball squads. The function was held at Wests Campbelltown. The boys were well decked out in their black and white polo's and during the evening they were given their gear bag, jacket, playing shorts and socks and other items. One thing that really stood out was the size of the young men, very big indeed. Mick took the opportunity to address the gathering.
The night was organised by Ben Rogers and it ran very smoothly. We spoke to a number of parents and coaching staff who gave us a positive report on the teams preparation leading up to the commencement of the season.
Wests Magpies Juniors were represent by several directors who were actively involved in the night.
Well done to all involved in the management and preparation these teams.

Ron Massey Cup Update
We have an energetic squad of
young men vying for contracts with Wests Magpies. Head Coach Leo
Epifania has increased their fitness levels and overall skills which
will no doubt pay dividends when they take the field for the pre season
competition. Matthew Jones, formerly with Camden, is our latest
signing. He is a very fit young man who plays hooker or in the halves.
Further players will be signed this week. Their details will be
published. We continue to train Monday, Tuesday and Thursdays at Durant
Oval, Warwick Farm from 5.30pm.
OAMPS pre season competition
Run over four weekends. Our first game: Wests Magpies vs. Blacktown Workers kick off 1.45pm Sunday 3 March 2013 at LIDCOMBE OVAL. Put it in your diary. We will have the full draw published shortly.
