On Friday 26th April 1991, Western
Suburbs recorded their first ever win (and would turn out to be one of
only two victories) against the Brisbane Broncos with a nail-biting
17-16 win under lights at Campbelltown Stadium. The Broncos
were reduced to 12 men at around the 15 minute mark when the incumbent
Australian tesst hooker, Kerrod Walters was sent off after an
altercation with Graeme Wynn (subsequently, Kerrod's older brother Steve
Walters became the Australian hooker and Kerrod never played for
Australia again).
The Broncos scored 3 tries to 2 but it was
the goalkicking of Jason Taylor who managed 4 from 4 plus a field goal
that sealed the Magpies their win.
Wests 17 ( Gillespie,
Cosatto tries: Taylor 4 goals and a field goal) def Brisbane 16 (Langer,
Plowman, Johns tries: Matterson 2 goals)
Scrums: Wests 10-5. Penalties: Brisbnae 8-5
Crowd: 10357. Referee: Greg McCallum

Wests Tigers kicked off their NRL debut season with a 24 all draw with the Broncos at Campbelltown Stadium back on Sunday February 6, 2000. Hopefully tonight we can exceed that crowd of 15,376
