Magpies Gala Dinner was a Balck and White Affair

Posted ImageBLACK and white was the theme of the night as Western Suburbs Magpies celebrated 25 years in Campbelltown at a gala dinner at Wests League Club on Friday.

More than 230 former players, officials, family, friends and supporter attended.

A special guest was Magpies fullback Wayne Smith, who was inducted into Wests Hall Of Fame with the late Clarrie Prentice and Frank Stanmore.

Players unveiled as apart of the commemorative best of '25 Years in Campbelltown' included Andrew Farrar, David Gillespie, Jason Taylor, Darren Willis, Steve Georgallis, John Skandalis and Robbie Farah. Former Magpie Brett Hodgson sent a video thank you message from the UK while Magpies junior Bryce Gibbs also sent a message.

Other former players at the dinner included Leo Epifania, Bruce Clark, Jason Williams Andrew Leeds, Cherry Mescia, Ian Schubert, Mick Liubinskas, Noel Kelly and John Hayes.

Current Wests Tigers coach Tim Sheens was named coach of the commemorative team.

Campbelltown Council presented the Magpies with a plaque which will take pride inside the tunnel at Campbelltown Sports Stadium.

There were several highlights of the night. Club stalwart Rick Wayde interviewed players who reflected on playing at Campbelltown.

There was an emotional video tribute to the late Keith Holman and a volunteer award was presented to Jeff Applitt.
