Vale Neville Charlton

It is with sadness that we announce that Neville “Box Head” Charlton passed away on Friday night after a recent health problem.

At 85 he was the Magpies oldest living first grade captain, a member of the Team of the Century as well as the Hall of Fame.
Neville played with Wests from 1954-1961, inclusive, captaining the Magpies in the 1961 Grand Final v St. George. He also played in the 1958 Grand Final and for NSW in 1959 and '61.

 Career:                 Canterbury 1948-'53 61 games
                                Wests 1954-'61        143 games
                                Easts 1962-'63          24 games

Regarded by many as "the greatest front rower not to play for Australia", Neville received an OAM in the 2014 Australia Day honours list for service to the Central Coast community.

Funeral details will be provided when they are received.
